The setting

In the evening along the river bank the breeze rise cooling the air and spreading the aroma of balsamic essences, eucalyptus, lime, and broom, enhanced by the characteristic and healthy scents of sulfur.

The TERME LUIGIANE occupies that part of the municipality of Acquappesa, in the province of Cosenza, neighboring the town of Guardia Piemontese, which dominates the landscape and which overlooks the landscape from above (515 mt. a.s.l.), the Baths extends along the picturesque valley of the River Bagni just 1.5 km. away from the sea.

The two communities, once united administratively, now each have the spa waters rights in proportion to their populations, therefore, are the Terme Luigiane are called of Guardia Piemontese and Acquappesa. The place is circumscribed by a circle of woodland hills with picturesque names: the Cozzo del Greco (The Greek’s Well) (626 mt. a.s.l.), Quercia Rotonda (Round Oak) (302 mt. a.s.l.), Cozzo Sentinel (650 mt. a.s.l.) with the “Dito Del Diavolo" (Devil's Finger) (301 mt. a.s.l.) standing out the most, being the dolomite rock cliff from which the spring waters flow and which represent the symbol of the Baths. The streams Callio and Santa Lucia with their deep valleys enliven the orography of the location, which is a perfect destination for leisurely walks in the Bosco della Mortilla (Mortilla’s Woods) il Parco delle Sorgenti (the Park of the Springs) and le gole del Fiume Bagni (the Gorges of the River Bath).

On the Tyrrhenian sea, very close by, The Luigiane Spa has a unique reference point: lo SCOGLIO DELLA REGINA (The Queen’s Rock), a very high rock almost a stack, full of caves and subject of many legends (this is where the Queen Isabella of France landed and obtained the long-awaited fertility in the hot spring water of such fascinating names as: Minosse, Caronte ...).

From the Scoglio della Regina the beaches of Intavolata Acquappesa branches off to the north, and that of Guardia Piemontese to the south, both of which are formed by vast sandy beaches that gently slope into the sea, to the delight of children and mothers alike. The beaches are easily accessed, both with the road that leads from the spa to the Scoglio della Regina (1800 mt.), as well as from the seafront of Acquappesa or from the several pedestrian access points of Guardia Piemontese Marina, equipped with large parking areas, situated right on the fringes of the beach.

This westerly exposed stretch of coast thanks to coastal range hills situated right behind it, is fresh in the morning, and enjoys maximum sunshine in the afternoon and at dusk, offering an incomparable and spectacular sea sunset.

In the evening along the river bank the breeze rise cooling the air and spreading the aroma of balsamic essences, eucalyptus, lime, and broom, enhanced by the characteristic and healthy scents of sulfur. A microclimate is therefore created specific to the Terme Luigiane, temperate with low humidity and extremely favorable to heat dissipation.

This Spa town, provides and offers all that is necessary for a pleasant stay (hotels, restaurants, pizzerias, cinemas, bars, meeting places, shops, post office, pharmacy, church, doctor) is completed by the services and opportunities offered by with neighboring city centers, each of which is specially active in the summer boasting a vast array of attractions.
